It won’t change the minds of those that hate this kind of stuff, but Death Came Through A Phantom Ship is really hard to beat in the world of symphonic black metal.

The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR is the fourth full-length studio album by the Israeli metal band Orphaned Land. The album was released on January 25, 2010, after many delays. ORwarriOR means “light warrior” or “warrior of light”, representing a conceptual hero of the battle of light versus darkness. ORwarriOR is Orphaned Land’s second concept album. The album was mixed by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree.

To The Metal is the tenth full length studio album by Gamma Ray. It was released on January 29th, 2010.
To promote To The Metal, Gamma Ray will headline a tour with Freedom Call and Secret Sphere. The album was recorded in Kai’s own studio in Hamburg in autumn 2009.
The band has recorded 12 songs. Ten of them will be featured on the regular album release, while the other two will be bonus tracks and they will appear on the different editions of the album.
The band described some of the songs on the official website, revealing that there will be a full-throttle number called “Rise”, a rhytmic and melodically diverse song called “Time To Live”, and a multilayered anthem titled “All you need to know”, featuring Michael Kiske.
Other songs mentioned are “No Need to Cry”, a song written by Dirk Schlächter about the death of his father, “To The Metal”, a song they played on various festivals last summer and the atmospherically dense “Empathy”.

Charred Walls of the Damned are an American heavy metal supergroup formed in 2009 consisting of Richard Christy, Steve DiGiorgio, Tim “Ripper” Owens and Jason Suecof.[1] The band was formed by Christy after a five year absence from the metal scene, since joining The Howard Stern Show in July 2004. Their self-titled debut album was released on February 2, 2010.

Defiance is a thrash metal band from Oakland, California. While virtually unknown to mainstream metal and rock circles, Defiance is known as one of the classic second-tier thrash bands to come from the Bay Area thrash metal scene. They played a decidedly technical style of thrash originally evoking bands like Testament, though they would later move on to playing in their own unique, more progressive thrash style. They reformed in 2005 and have released a new album.

“Retribution”, the debut album from German death metallers Obscura, will be reissued on February 16 via Relapse Records. The 2006 CD has been remastered and repackaged with three bonus tracks.

Nifelvind (English: Wind of Hell/Underworld) is the sixth full-length album by the Finnish folk metal band Finntroll, released on February 17, 2010 through Century Media.

Angrenost is a one-man black metal project from Cornwall, UK. The music evokes images of winter landscapes and of ancient times and battles. Angrenost brings a unique style to the influences of classic black metal bands.

The lyrical imagery in the songs is based mostly off the darkness of fantasy books such as ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’. The music is also composed to represent these themes.

Universal is the eighth full-length album by the Norwegian metal band Borknagar. It marks the return of bassist Tyr and guitarist Jens Ryland. The bands former vocalist ICS Vortex will perform vocals on the track “My Domain” on the album. The album was intended to be released in the fall of 2009, but the released date was postponed as a result of a label decision. It will be released on February 22, 2010 in four formats: a regular jewelcase CD, a limited digipack which will include a bonus disc, a CD box with extras, and a gatefold LP with double vinyl.
